Ali Fakih is a Senior at Wayne State University from Dearborn, MI. He hopes to graduate with a dual degree in public health honors and sociology. Ali is particularly interested in the intersection of clinical care and health policy which will allow him to engage with communities, as well as to conduct and translate research into evidence-based policy. Some of his interests include running, watching TedTalks, learning how to play the piano, journaling, and rock climbing. Fun fact, Ali is apart of a Dabke, a traditional Arab dance team that performs at special events!

Dina Charara


Dina Charara is a graduate student at Wayne State University from Beirut, Lebanon. She hopes to graduate with a master's in anthropology with a focus on medical anthropology. Dina’s research focuses on the mental health of Syrian refugees that suffer from PTSD due to the traumatic events they endure during the entire process of displacement to the United States. The ultimate goal of her research is to incorporate factors of cultural resilience into the medical field when professionals are treating patients with such backgrounds. In addition to anthropological research, she enjoys singing, playing the piano, playing basketball, and photography.

Hussein Bazzi is a senior at Wayne State University, obtaining a dual degree in Public Health and University Honors, as well as a minor in Global Health and Social Medicine. As well as being involved with NAAMA NextGen, Hussein spends his time doing clinical research with the Wayne State University Department of Emergency Medicine, volunteers at multiple organizations in his hometown of Dearborn, like HYPE and C-ASIST, and serves as a senator on Wayne State University’s student senate. Outside of studying, Hussein enjoys biking and traveling.

Hussein Hamade is a senior at Wayne State from Dearborn, Michigan. He hopes to graduate with a major in public health and a minor in chemistry. Hussein enjoys playing basketball and swimming when he's not studying.

Alla Sablaban is a junior at Wayne State University from Detroit Michigan. She hopes to graduate with a major in Nutrition and Food Science and a minor in Art History. In addition to medicine, she's passionate about working to make nutrition accessible to the historically underserved in Detroit. During her free time, she loves to bake and paint.

Malaak Elhage

Professional Development Chair

Malaak Elhage is a sophomore at Wayne State University from Dearborn, Michigan. She hopes to graduate with a major in Biomedical Engineering. Malaak is the Professional Development Chair for the Wayne State University NextGen Chapter. She is passionate about giving back to the Arab American population and spends her free time volunteering at public middle schools in the Dearborn School District, helping out struggling students from low-income families. Malaak aspires to continue her educational career in the pursuit of helping others.

Tala Hussini is a third-year at Wayne State University from Canton, MI. Tala is a Biomedical Engineering major and hopes to pursue a career in cardiology. She is President of WSU Virtual Research and enjoys longboarding.
