University of Michigan - EBoard

Ziad Fehmi is a Sophomore at the University of Michigan from Franklin MI. He plans on double majoring in Biomolecular Science and Middle Eastern North African Studies. Ziad is very involved in the Arab community at the University of Michigan as the director of First-year programs for the Arab Student Association. He believes in fostering a community of Arab students at the university and loves to help others in the community that has helped him so much.

Jenna Berry is a junior at the University of Michigan from Dearborn MI hoping to major in Middle Eastern and North African Studies. In her free time, Jenna enjoys reading, playing sports and spending time with friends and family. On campus, she is a member of the Empowered Arab Sisterhood and volunteers regularly at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. Jenna hopes to one day become a practicing a physician who will use her abilities to aid people in her home community and to combat humanitarian crises in the middle east.

Omar Fehmi is a sophomore at the University of Michigan from Franklin MI. He is applying to major in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics and minoring in Computer Science. Omar has a deep passion for community and philanthropic work and sits on the UNICEF National Council. In his free time, Omar enjoys the company of family and friends. As an aspiring physician, Omar hopes to be involved at the intersection of policy and healthcare.

Hanin Elhagehassan is a junior at the University of Michigan hailing from Dearborn, Michigan. She is on a pre-medical track and hopes to graduate with a major in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. Hanin is interested in the intersection of engineering and medicine. She aspires to develop solutions that increase the quality and accessibility of healthcare on a global scale as a physician-engineer. For fun, Hanin enjoys reading, photography, hiking, and a game of sudoku.

Mariam Tobia is a sophomore at the University of Michigan, pursuing a major in Public Health. She is very passionate about medicine and healthcare. As an aspiring physician, she hopes to be able to combat global healthcare inequity and disparities in the future. Currently, she is involved with Blueprints for Pangaea, a non-profit that provides medical supplies to underprivileged countries, and volunteers at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. In her free time, she loves to read, run, and travel!

Mariam Tobia

Mahdi Mazeh is a senior at the University of Michigan and grew up in Dearborn, Michigan. He hopes to graduate with a major in BCN and a minor in AMAS. He is the president and a founding father of Omega Beta Eta Arab Fraternity, Inc. He plans on pursuing a career as a physician and currently does research at the Office for Health Equity and Inclusion in Michigan Medicine. Mahdi is very passionate about giving back to his community and is a part of several mentoring programs where he hopes to help younger students in their pursuit of higher education.

Adam Chalak is a sophomore at the University of Michigan from Dearborn, MI. He hopes to graduate with a major in microbiology and a minor in Arab and Muslim American studies on the pre-medical track. Adam hopes to utilize his skills and experiences in the future to give back to communities in the form of healthcare. Adam is very passionate and interested in health sciences and medicine. Adam likes to travel and is also a big comic book fan. Listening to music, reading, biking, and playing video games are a few things Adam does for fun.

John Ballouz is Senior at the University of Michigan from Bloomfield Hills. He hopes to double major in Biomolecular Sciences and Middle Eastern and North African Studies. John plans on becoming a dentist. He is passionate about philanthropic work making in his Arab American community and in the Middle East. For fun, John plays soccer and is an avid shuffleboard enthusiast.

Bashir Kaspo is a senior at the University of Michigan from Sterling Heights, Michigan. He hopes to graduate with a major in BCN or Neuroscience. Bashir is driven to help others especially in regards to education - an interest he expressed as a Science Learning Center tutor. In his free time, Bashir enjoys the company of family and friends. When he's not tutoring or forming meaningful relationships, Bashir can be seen practicing his free throws on the basketball court.
