Obesity Prevalence in Arab American Populations
The research project is lead by Dr. Rouba Ali-Fehmi and Dr. Omar Lattouf. Obesity is considered the most prevalent nutritional disorder of children in the United States. Obesity causes a wide range of serious complications and increases the risk of premature illness and death later in life, raising public-health concerns worldwide.
This NAAMA Foundation funded project has two branches:
Obesity and comorbidity data on the Arab American demographic is missing or significantly lacking in prior research studies. Our goal is to collect data to improve our understanding of obesity in our population.

To raise awareness and use our data to establish effective interventions that might help keep the health and well being of our community.
